What do you need to start your day off right?
A piping hot oat milk latte and an almond croissant? A sun salutation and a green smoothie? How about enough time to get dressed like you mean it and leave the house feeling unstoppable?
Sorry night owls, but the way you get dressed sets the tone for your entire day — and we’re about to prove it. Below, we’re breaking down why morning rituals matter, which ones set you up for success, and how you can mirror them in your wardrobe. Consider this your wake-up call.
The Importance Of Morning Rituals
Think of days you’ve had that ran as smooth as silk. No hiccups, no chaos. Maybe you nailed a job interview, then a first date. Maybe you took a day trip and absolutely nothing went wrong.
Chances are, you started those days with a strong ritual. A shower that actually woke you up. A cup of coffee brewed to perfection. And an outfit that gave you total main character energy.
Sure, sometimes the universe won’t be on your side. But let’s be honest: the days you roll out of bed and scramble aren’t usually the ones that go down in the books as iconic.
You’ve probably heard that morning rituals matter. It’s not just a popular saying. It’s science. Psychological studies prove that consistent morning rituals reduce stress, boost energy, and increase productivity. Translation: hitting the snooze button five times and rushing out the door? Amateur hour.
Morning Rituals & Wardrobe Rituals That Set The Right Tone
Need inspo for rituals that actually work? We’ve got you. Here’s how to structure your mornings — and your closet — so both are working in your favour.

Skincare & styling
Maybe you need a shower to feel awake in the morning. Maybe you’re just heavily invested in your multi-step Korean skincare routine. Either way, this morning ritual is non-negotiable. Nobody wants to leave the house feeling unfresh.
How it translates to your wardrobe
You give your hair and makeup a once-over before you leave home, so give your clothes the same treatment. Don’t just throw them on. Check the fit, smooth the fabric, make sure it sits the way it’s meant to. With the right outfit, you’ll be able to just set it and forget it.

Fueling your body
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day for a reason. Don’t let yourself run on empty and crash out later in the day. You don’t need a three-course spread. Just something that fuels you so you walk out the door feeling high-powered. Not hangry.
How it translates to your wardrobe
The right outfit is the same: fuel for the day. Choose pieces that charge you up. Perfect fits that make you stand taller. Fabrics that move with you, not against you. Details that look invisible but work overtime — sculpting seams, hemlines that never budge, timeless cuts that always hit. You know, just EMMYDEVEAUX things. It’s energy you can wear.

Movement & exercise
A walk around the block, an at-home stretch, or a 6am pilates class if you’re feeling extra. Whatever form it takes, moving early builds momentum and gets you in that flow state from the get-go.
How it translates to your wardrobe
Choose pieces that move with you. Versatile outfits that flex from casual to boardroom to late-night cocktails without losing pace. Blazers that instantly elevate. Dresses that slay from AM to PM. Fabrics that actually feel good on your skin. When you can move freely, you’re motivated to move boldly.

Mindfulness practice
Meditation, journaling, or — if that feels too woo woo for you — just setting one clear intention for the day. Call it mindfulness, call it focus. Either way, it sharpens you.
How it translates to your wardrobe
Apply the same lens to your closet. Don’t rush. Dress with intention. Choose an outfit that looks good, feels good, and says “I’ve got this” before you walk into the room. Find your power formula, and own it. It could be a LBD and white pumps, it could be a blazer with leather leggings. You’ll know it when you wear it.

Power planning
The best way to get your sh*t together for the day ahead? Make a list. Or consult your ongoing one. Either way, it’ll help you feel more in control of the next 24 hours.
How it translates to your wardrobe
You can make a to-do list for your life, and a to-wear list for your wardrobe. Outfit planning is a productivity hack in disguise. You can do it via an outfit planning/styling app like Indyx, Whering, or Cladwell. Or keep it old-school and lay your pieces out the night before. Either way, eliminate the guesswork. Because the only thing worse than running late is running late in the wrong outfit.
Intentional habits set the tone for big results. Don’t skip them in the bathroom. Don’t skip them in the closet. Rituals are how you start owning your day before it even begins.
Comment
I wanted to talk a bit about my morning ritual.
I wake up between 4:30am and 5:00am not by choice or by alarm, it is my natural wake up time. Then I spend about an hour writing down everything that is overwhelming my mind, this could anything from ideas about how I want to re-arrange furniture to things that need to get done, to groceries I need to get. Then around 6:00am I will have a shower in the dark, here is where I do my very best to be grateful and to get my mind right. Most mornings I have to do a lot of mind work to be able to get through the day and try to stay present as I am doing it.
I currently really struggle with the idea of being present because even though it is much more enjoyable as a life experience I don’t believe it is how you manifest. To me manifestation is creating the emotions of existing in a space in the future but creating them at the present moment which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. (I am not even sure that sentence makes sense)
Then it is coffee time, as someone who has lost 45 lbs through food, everything I put in my mouth is a consideration. But don’t f*ck with my coffee….I am a keurig trash coffee drinker with french vanilla creamer. No oat milk lattes over here.
As soon as the liquid hits my mouth my laptop is open and I am working. Usually thinking how do we survive another day doing what I love, and somehow we manage. I struggle greatly with my business because historically it has consumed my entire life and now with a major downsize I am trying to find a balance to keep it going. I don’t have the hustle in me like I used to but I sure love fashion and helping women to feel their best.
I will get about an hour of work done which is pretty productive time for me, I am the most mentally alert and productive between 6:00am and 12:00pm.
Then it is makeup time, I have had to learn to find ways to enjoy this time with myself. I really resented the time it took me but it is important as it makes me feel good about myself. So in order to keep the morning trend going of keeping my mind right I will listen to Alan Watts on Youtube. I appreciate his views on life and try to adopt them in mine. I actually think Alfie (my dog) really likes listening to it too.
Then it is time to get dressed which I have already decided what I am wearing today, my Tank Ruched Midi Bodycon, white runners, this oversized distressed pleather jacket that I have, and maybe a hat I haven’t decided.
Then it is time to eat breakfast and pack the food. Everytime I eat my yogurt and Vanilla Special K it is like when other people make their bed. I feel accomplished because I consistently start my day by doing something I really don’t enjoy. (I don’t make my bed btw I am superstitious that if I slept well the night before it needs to stay the same lol)
I am a food prepper I have been for years. I have big opinions about what we eat and how we eat which maybe I will expand on later. As someone who lost weight without sacrificing any food category or going to the gym I think I have a lot to say on the subject and how everything I thought I knew was wrong.
Last thing I do before I leave is brush my teeth, I like having nice white teeth so you will find I kind of have toothbrushes and toothpaste everywhere. If I have a second coffee at work which is rare I will brush my teeth after lol.
Then it is time to pack up all my work stuff, my dog, my food and haul it to one of the stores.
My BIGGEST challenge right now during the day is keeping adrenaline and cortisol low. This is what gets us in trouble ladies lol. (in my opinion)
So I take frequent breaks, I do not multi task when eating, and I am doing my best to focus on one task at a time rather than the chaos I am used to.
